Using the information in the text on pages 376-381, the two volcano handouts and internet web search, create a mini research poster on The Effect of Volcanoes.

On a legal size or small white poster blank paper include the following information:

a) Paragraphs: Sub-titles

1) General information about volcanoes

2) Volcanic Ash

3) Lava Flow

4) Benefits of Volcanoes

b) Did you know? section. Add 2-3 interesting facts from the text or web search to add to your posters interest level.

c) Volcano diagram complete with labels (Tell what type of volcano you are drawing)

Criteria to cover

• Title: The Effects of Volcanoes : Larger font size, stands out, neat
• Four sub-titles covered in paragraph form in your own words and order.
• Good copy printed or written in blue/black pen or word processed
• Each section should have a sub-title labeled and larger than other text to stand out
• Information is interesting and current, and presented in a clear and concise way
• Volcano diagram and labels (Minimum 8 cm by 8 cm)
• Complete sentences in your own words and proper punctuation
• Spelling and grammar
• Neatness, colour and overall design creativity, appearance and effect
• Thin border added
• Full name, date, and block added in lower right hand corner

Marking Scale:

4 ½ - 5- Criteria completed in an excellent and outstanding way. Covered outcomes thoroughly!

4- Very good. A few minor errors.

3 ½ - 3- Satisfactory/Good- some key elements of the criteria are missing or not fully completed.

2 ½ - 2- Needs Improvement- several elements of criteria are missing or not complete.
