Information technology is
the use of tools and electronic devices that allow us to create, explore,
transform, and express information. The information technology curriculum has
been to ensure that students know how to use computers and gain the technological
literacy demanded in the workplace.
1. Keyboarding
Students will be able
to enter information accurately using correct keyboarding techniques e.g.
Home-row finger placement, reaches, correct posture, eyes-on-copy. Students
will practice skills using All The Right Type and keep accurate records.
Students should try to achieve a speed of 25 WPM by the end of grade 7.

understanding of the ethical use of information. Copyright, plagiarism and

A computer Lab (rm. 220 or 207) will be open most days before school, lunchtime and after school. A teacher supervisor will be present most days. The library also has computers available for work
5) Work handed in late will have marks deducted (10-20%). Work more than a week late will earn only a pass.
6) Ask for permission before printing. Most assignment will be handed in electronically (e-mail) to me and
returned the same way.
This will be based on criterion referenced assignments, quizzes, keyboarding and effective use of class time.
