Your objective is to research a topic of interest on something that is found outside of Earths atmosphere and to present your findings in a maximum two page written research presentation with some illustrations. You will be provided with two periods for research in the library and computer lab in which you must gather key facts to use in your write up presentation. Some class time will be given to work on the good draft, however, some must be worked on at home as well.
1) Topics – please choose one topic to focus your research on.
2)
Nebulas, Planetary Nebulas, Supernovas, Galaxies (Types, etc.), Milky Way Galaxy, Black Hole, Quasar, Neutron Stars/Pulsars, Asteroids, Stars (general), comets, meteor – meteorites.
B) Origin Theories of the Universe : Steady State, Big Bang, Pulsating Universe : Explain the opinions for and against each theory and similarities and differences between them.
C) Do an in depth study of a man made satellite or space probe. Include information such as: how they are launched, when they were launched, what they consist of (add a labeled diagram), description of types of fuels used in rockets, what the purpose is of the satellite, etc
a) In the library there are many books, encyclopedias, magazines to search for information on your topic. Your textbook (pages 309-316) and handouts provided in class have some information.
b) In the computer lab, you can start at a few of the suggested websites below or begin your own search using your topic term in a search engine.

3) Bibliography
While you are searching for information, be sure to write down your facts on your fact finding paper. Also, don’t forget to document where you found this information on the references sheet. Record title, publisher, and year for books and other library resources. Record website address (URL) for web research section.
4) Once you have enough research facts, it is time to begin sorting the information into rough draft paragraphs in your notebook on loose leaf paper. You do not necessarily need to use all the information you have found. Present it in well organized, paragraph form with proper sentence mechanics.
5) Good copies of your research should be presented in blue or black pen, or word processed. An illustration of your topic or something directly related to your topic should be included and labeled or explained.
