Dear Student and Parent(s),

Welcome to Constable Neil Bruce Middle School and to the classes of Mrs. Ludbrook, Mr. Banser and Mrs.Weill.  We are looking forward to meeting you and working with you this year.

(Mrs. Ludbrook) I have been teaching grade seven students at CNBMS for the past year.  During the last 30 years, I have been teaching in the library, computer lab and the classroom.  I am fortunate to be able to teach classes that reflect my own interests:  English and Social Studies. Away from school, I enjoy reading, writing, hiking and gardening.  Some day I plan to visit some of the countries about which we study.  I have 3 children aged 23, 20 and 18 who remind me constantly that young people are intelligent and interesting.  I look forward to our year together.

(Mr. Banser)  I have been teaching for 7 years.  I taught grade 7 Science, P.E. and Drama here at CNBMS last year. Previously, I have taught grades 4 through 6 at Glenrosa Elementary School.  My teaching career began in Surrey, BC and moved to the Okanagan in 1996.  I like to be outdoors and active and enjoy participating in many team and individual sports.  I also enjoy working and playing with computer technology.  I am married and have a three-year-old daughter and a six month old son who provide a lot of energy and enjoyment.  I appreciate the energy and excitement involved in working with young people and look forward to another successful year at the grade 7 level.

(Mrs. Weill)  I have been teaching for the past 7 years, all at the middle school level. Last year, I taught French and English at the grade 7 level, and also was a Career Preparation teacher for the grade 8 and 9 students. Previously, I have taught grades 7-9 at CNB and Dr. Knox Middle Schools.  My teaching career began in West Vancouver at the middle school level, but I grew up and graduated in the Okanagan, and in1998, moved back home.  I enjoy the outdoors and like to keep active through running, cross country skiing, mountain biking, kayaking and hiking.  I also enjoy reading, watching Survivor, and eating sushi!  I am married and have two dogs named Buddy and Lola, who do pretty much everything with us.  We are also expecting our first child at the end of September, and look forward to this new experience.  Because of this, I will only be able to get to know you for a short time, but I hope to provide you with a good start to your middle school years, and maybe catch up with you when I return the following year.  I look forward to meeting all of you in September!

Enclosed is a list of materials and supplies that will help you to be prepared for our classes.  Please come to school prepared on the first full day of school (Wednesday, September 5).

We are all looking forward to an exciting and challenging year.  We expect you to come to class prepared, to listen, do all of your assignments and, above all, work hard.  If you do these things, you will be successful.  We guarantee it!

Please remember that Tuesday, September 4 is the first day of school and will only last until 11:30 a.m.  During this time you will meet all of your teachers and have a chance to find your way around the school.  School begins at 9:00 a.m. sharp.  See you there!

Feel free to contact us at school (769-7343) if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Ludbrook                         Mr. Banser                                 Mrs. Weill

Materials and Supplies

  1. 1 box of blue or black fine tipped ballpoint pens (they do tend to disappear if you’re not careful); please bring 2 or 3 red pens as well.
  2. 1 box of sharpened HB pencils.  Please sharpen them before you come to school.  One pencil sharpener for 30 kids on the first day of school is a disaster!
  3. 2 three-inch binders (different colours).  You can use one for ABCD days and the other for EFGH days; at least 10 subject dividers.
  4. 2 or 3 packages of loose-leaf paper; 1 package of blank paper (with holes).
  5. 2 graph key tabs.
  6. 1 package of sharpened pencil crayons; 1 pair of scissors, coloured felt pens – optional, but useful
  7. 2 glue sticks.
  8. 1 Geometry Set.  You can give this to Mrs. Weill for safekeeping until we do our Geometry Unit.
  9. 1 calculator.
  10. 1 ruler with centimeters and inches.
