Easter in Minnesota
This will be just a short entry today to say that I just
purchased my airplane ticket to visit Minnesota during my Easter vacation (at
three weeks, it’s quite a long vacation as well). One reason I’m coming home is
that I would have to pay for each day that I remained at Hillhead during the
vacation period. That would amount to about six hundred dollars (approx. £315),
so I figured that if I was going to do that, I might as well put that money towards
an airline ticket and visit all of the people that I was beginning to miss. I
got a great deal from KLM.com, and it’s only going to cost me about $630 for a
roundtrip ticket from Aberdeen to Minneapolis…that’s only about $200 more than
I paid for the one-way trip from MSP to GLA when I first arrived here in
Scotland. I only have to make one stop as well, in Amsterdam, so that’s going
to be so much easier than that crazy way in which I had originally gotten here!
I’ll arrive around 4:30pm on Friday, March 24th (leaving here by
10:45am on Friday) and then depart again around 9:25pm on Sunday, April 16th.
I should arrive in Aberdeen (ABZ) by 3:25pm on Monday, so it’s a good thing
that I only have one class on Mondays (which I’ll have to miss). However much
I’ll be excited to be home and want to visit with everyone, this has to also be
an academic trip. All three of my history essays will be due the day after I
get back, so I will have to spend a lot of time finishing those up during my
three week stay. But, all in all, I think I will be happy to see everything
again (I didn’t think that I would ever catch myself saying that, but it’s
true).
