I am not destined to
live in a box on the street!
Wonderful news! I now have a place to reside once I get to
Scotland. I received my housing packet in the mail the other day, including my
new address. After realizing that I had less than one week until I left, I
quickly returned my lease agreement via Global Priority Mail. Of course, thanks
to the wonderful U.S. government increasing the price of stamps, my little grey
cardboard envelope also went up in price. Hooray! Okay, back to the main point;
my lease will probably arrive in Aberdeen one day ahead of me. So now, I have
yet another worry to keep my brain busy…will everything be set when I get
there? I sure hope so.
Nonetheless, one less thing will
plague my thoughts, as I already made my £200 deposit. I waited patiently until
the wee hours of the morning so that I could place the call to the
Accommodation Department and give them the details of the credit card. What
time did I finally place the call you might ask? Well, I tried at 2:30am (which
is 8:30am over there) and there was no answer. So, I waited a bit longer and
tried again at 3:30am when I finally got a hold of a friendly woman who took
all the info. I sure am not looking forward to my phone bill this month, I can
assure you. Again, I strayed from the main point, sorry.
Courtesy of the University of Aberdeen, I found a picture of
what my building will look like, and a sample of a typical room in that house.
Not too bad… at least it looks better than the concrete fallout shelters that
comprise the Saint Cloud State University campus! I’ll describe the rooms
better once I actually arrive.
