Hail to Scotland

This will be just a quick weather update, as it so happens. There has been a never-ending series of fronts that continue to sweep across northern Scotland, so it has been dreary and rainy here for the past week (even more so than usual!). I quite like it, but that’s not really the point here. On Wednesday, I was studying for my English exam and I noticed that it began to rain pretty hard. I watched for a while (anything that would help me procrastinate studying!) and then I noticed that the raindrops were bouncing an awful lot. Upon closer inspection, I saw that it was hailing! Oh, how I miss hail. Well of course I needed to grab my camera and take a picture of this wondrous sight. Two of the better images are just below. If you look closely, you can see that that the hailstones are about the size of a pea, and it continued for about five minutes straight. You can also see that the courtyard started to actually show hail accumulation. By the time I had taken the second picture, however, much of the hail had already melted…it was much more impressive just a short time before, but I didn’t want to open my window to get a good picture because these things were flying at my window and I didn’t really feel like getting pinged in the head with one. I took this hailstorm as an omen that I would do good on my English exam, you know, like the weather gods were speaking to the meteorologist. Was the prophecy fulfilled? Well, I guess I’ll know in a month when the exam grades are posted (I’ll take a shot in the dark, however, and say ‘no’).
