What a crazy weekend…

I had a very busy, but at the same time very inactive weekend. Confused yet? Well, here’s what I mean…on Friday, I had scheduled a get-together with a bunch of friends, because I felt the need to unwind. I still had not written my Christendom in Crisis essay, which was very bad of me, but I was getting sick of all the nonstop academic work. So, I suggested that we all go see a movie and then go out for some drinks on Friday night. Gill invited me over for a yummy dinner before the movie, and then we met Scott and Ali at the cinema. We went to go see Happy Feet, this adorable computer animated movie about a penguin that dances. To the left is a picture of the cute penguin from the movie. It is definitely a film to check out if/when it ever comes out in the States. Anyhoo, after the movie, we headed over to The Basement, this great cocktail bar that I really like. The group consisted of me, Gill and Steve, Theresa (who met up with us after the movie), Scott and Ali, and a couple of their friends from Stonehaven. Unfortunately, Ross couldn’t make it because he had a bunch of essay work to finish…he was very much missed. We had so much fun that night. Theresa and I made a pact to match each other drink for drink…it’s a game in which everybody wins! Hee hee. So, we were both basically wasted after about a half hour. They serve these drinks called drumsticks, which taste exactly like a lollypop that they sell over here. They are so good that I just consume them like they’re water. Well, we stayed at that pub until they closed at 1am. None of us felt like going home quite yet, so we decided to go to this dance club. I lost Theresa soon after we got there…apparently she left with her friend who joined her and they went to Espionage to dance, as I found out later. I was left to dance with and entertain Scott, Ali and their friend Ben…not too shabby a prospect, if I do say so myself. At about 3am or so, we decided to head out, as Scott was practically passing out on the dance floor. The guys walked me home and came up to the flat for a bit. Hooray for them, as they got to witness Kirstin going completely schizo. She came out and started bitching about how she had to work in the morning, and how I barely even lived there as I was moving out soon. I’m all like, yeah, sucks to be you, and thinking how dare she come off like she owned the flat! I paid my rent and this flat is mine as well as hers until 1 January 2007. I couldn’t do anything other than laugh at her…she is so completely ridiculous most of the time. At least the guys finally got to see what she is really like, instead of taking my word for it, and they could see for themselves that I am no liar! Soon after this pathetic rampage, the guys had to leave, as their ride back to Stonehaven was going to pick them up soon thereafter.

The next morning, I woke up still completely drunk. I did actually get motivated enough to do some research for my essay, but not nearly as much as I should have. I basically kept wavering between reading Froissart’s Chronicles, watching DVDs, reading books about Aberdeen, watching DVDs, looking up journal articles, and watching DVDs. One guess as to which activity I engaged in more frequently. Therefore, by the end of the night, I still hadn’t done very much.

On Sunday morning, I woke up completely panicked. I had three incredibly important things that I absolutely had to finish that day: I had to start, and finish, my essay, which was due on Monday, I had to read the remaining 300 pages of Froissart’s Chronicles for a documents test that I had on Monday, and I had to write up my Geology assignment (which was given to us on Wednesday) about earthquakes, also due on Monday. That’s quite a bit of work to have to squish into one day, I’ll tell you. So, from noon until 8pm, I read the remainder of the book and took notes, then after that I wrote my essay for about an hour and a half, and then wrote up my Geology assignment. After taking a break to watch a DVD (I just couldn’t stop procrastinating!), I wrote the rest of my essay in another hour and a half. By 2am, all three of my tasks were completed…yeah!

Today, I turned in my essay, entitled ‘Was Aberdeen of anything more than local significance in the history of Scotland between 1328 and 1542?’ (you can read it if you want, but I shall give you a grievous warning…it is the worst piece of crap that I’ve ever written in my life, and would be surprised to see it receive a mark any higher than a 10!) and then went to a meeting with my Vikings tutor to get my essay back. Want to hazard a guess as to what grade I got on my Vikings essay? Well, I had previously predicted that I would get a 16 on it, when in fact I received a very nice 18 (out of 20)! Whoo hoo! That sets my mind at ease about that class now…not quite so much pressure to do extremely well in the exams. So, that was definitely good news.

At 1pm I had to take the dreaded documents test for my Christendom in Crisis class. Ew. I do not think that I did very well on that. However, as it is only worth 10% of my grade, I’m not too terribly worried…as long as I passed it. After that class, I was a very good friend and agreed to proof read Theresa’s essay. Then I went to my last Geology class ever and turned in my assignment. This was a monumental moment…I now have absolutely nothing left to do this term until the exams come up. Hooray! I’m so exhausted, so it’s great news that I can take it easy for a couple of weeks before I have to start studying.

Alright, well it’s now almost midnight, and I have my last American Century tutorial to go to tomorrow morning (where I’ll hopefully be getting my second essay grade back), so I’m going to try and get some sleep now. Nighty night.
