Back to main Aim: Why are wood joints shaped as they are? Do Now: One type of wood joint is the finger or box joint. It is when properly cut, strong, and easy to make. HW: EC- go see robotics team at Riverbank State Park. Notes: The joints are shaped to what is best for the drawer, time as well as cost and function play a part in the decision. If something was going to be heavily side loaded it will undoubtedly break if the finger joint is used (especially w/o reinforcement). So a better joint is picked. |
