One of the best ways to learn about the magical community is to read newspapers written by the wizards of the time. While I don't have very old newpapers to go through I do have some articles from the Daily Prophet in January.

The Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, finally admitted to a public audience, last Tuesday that he had indeed seen the Dark Lord.
Many rumors have picked up following this announcement including one about the escaped Azkaban prisoner, Sirius Black. Many now theorize that after his failed attempt to kill Harry Potter, he returned to the Dark Lord, after a miraculous escape from a tower at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
New evidence given by Albus Dumbledore, suggests that Black, who died in the incident with Voldemort priorly mentioned, was not indeed the killer of the Potters nor was he ever a dark wizard. Dumbledore claims that Peter Pettigrew, who was awarded a posthumous Order of Merlin First Class was indeed the dastardly wizard. Dumbledore claims that Pettigrew was an unregistered animangus that just hid until the time was right.
This accusation still needs to be looked into further by magical law enforcement but it seems a frightening improbability to this reporter.

The Ministry of Magic has once more got a large amount of problems to deal with.
First up, there has been an increase in muggles spotting items of a magical nature. Just yesterday a Muggle woman reported buying a dishpan that sprung off the table and washed itself in the sink.
The woman is currently under the care of a Muggle Psychiatrist for her "hallucinations". Other reports include Muggles having seen books that bite and snap, though the Muggles are currently suspecting poltergeists and ghosts.
The Ministry worries constantly that muggles are coming closer to the day when they will stumble onto some part of our world, and the Misuse Of Magical Artefacts Department has been busier than ever.
In other news, there is still no sign of Rita Skeeter, who has been missing since the Triwizard Tournament. There is no sign to suggest why she left. However, as tragic as it is, our staff has been filling in beautifully, and Daily Prophet sales are at their peak!
