3. COURSE
DESCRIPTION:
A.P. European History places a heavy emphasis on developing writing and analytical skills. All of the reading assignments and most of the supplementary reading assignments have a written component. This course offers a historical and cultural study of European History from 1300 C.E. to the Present. An emphasis will be placed on Political, Economic, Religious , Intellectual and Artistic influences , with an increased attention on the development and evolution of the nation-state. The theme of change with regard to scientific and technological advancements will be highlighted. Attention will also be focused upon the connections between the people and events of the twentieth century. Students will need to be able to analyze a variety of artifacts and primary and secondary sources to uncover and understand specific historic events and issues.

6. Course
Requirements:
1. Accepting
responsibility for learning how to
analyze and write critically is crucial to success for students.
2. Being Prepared to Learn-Students shall be inside the class before the tardy bell with their textbook, 3-ring binder notebook, completed homework and an ink pen.
3. Daily notes, classroom assignments, and returned work are to be maintained in a 3-ring binder arranged Students
should be prepared to work at a
college level.
5. The York
County grading scale applies. Each
assignment is given a total point value of which the student receives a
percentage grade based upon the number of points earned. Example: A
test is
worth 100 points; the learner gets 80 points; 80/100=80% or C.
6. Classwork
includes all worksheets, quizzes, in-class projects, work done in the
computer
lab, video quizzes, essays, review study guides, internet work on the
student
class computers, puzzles, journal entries i.e. anything done in class.
Study
Guides will be used in class, however they will not be used during
tests.
7.
Attendance
Policy:
To comply with
Virginia State law, students are expected to attend school every day
and to be
on time unless there is illness or death in the immediate family.
