The Capitol
We toured the Capitol building, and stopped for pics outside the White House.
The Capitol building.Note the scaffolding around Lady Freedom: while we waited in line, we watched some amazingly brave (stupid?) workers fearlessly walking around on those little boards, restoring the statue to its full splendor.
The ceiling in the rotunda, depicting the apotheosis of George Washington. He is seated in the middle, surrounded by thirteen women, representing the original states.I suspect - given the classic theme - that they could also represent the Muses...
Strike the pose... this is one of Massachusetts' two statues in the capitol building. Each state is allowed to submit two.  Some of those immortalized range from Sam Adams (rabble rouser, not world-renowned brewer!) to the inventor of the television.
Our tour guide for the capitol.I noticed that the girls seemed really focused during this tour. I'm sure it was their interest in the Capitol building.  Right, girls?
