The Smithsonain Museums
We had the opportunity to visit three of the museums:

American History | Natural History | Art
Learn more about the Smithsonian Institute by visiting this site
Museum of American History

The museum contains a number of icons from American culture.
Can you say, "Mr. Rogers?"  I knew you could.

A tribute to Linsey aka Dorothy Levendowski.  And she thought I wouldn't put that on this page.
Hey, she also thought I wouldn't play "The Preamble" at the dance.  Wrong on both counts!

Michael Jordan's jersey, and I think that's Ali's glove to the left.

Indiana Jones on his latest enterprising venture.

The girls hit the campaign trail.  I think the one on the right is Secret Service...

Sheridan's horse.  It's incredible to think that this horse actually saw the Civil War.  After he died, he was stuffed, given a full military parade to the Smithsonian, and put on display.

One factor in the Civil War becoming as bloody as it did: the rifled musket, firing the Minie bullet.

Civil War regimental flag.  Many men died protecting their regiment's colors.  The flag bears the regiment's name / number, and has its battles painted onto it.

This ship was sank during the Revolutionary War.  On the back side of it, you can actually see the hole in the hull where the cannonball entered, dooming the ship to the sea's bottom.
