There’s a bit of a technical consideration when he enters the shop as the ambience cuts out all of a sudden. It would have been better to fade it out or leave it running on the track which doesn’t have the diologue on. Again there is an ambience cut between the doorway and the shopkeeper. This is much better than if it had continued as it’s obviously a completly different place and it looks stupid.

So to the new ending. The change from the scripted one was due for a couple of reasons. Firstly was the composition of the shot we were going to use. This is the bizare scenario when On the shoot there were four people and we needed them all to be in frame, Adam and I and two people laughing and with packets of cornflakes on their hands. The only way we could all get in frame was to leave the camera rolling and unnatended for the duration of the take. This resulted in the shot being badly framed and not that good really. The second consideration is that I actually quite like the new ending. The ‘nutters....fucking nutters’ bit always gets a laugh for a start but we could have cut to the exterior shot after this point. Ending with the wig and hat being slided off and the microphone removed isn’t such a bad way to go afterall. The shot we couldn’t use forced the hand a bit but the new ending is fine. It would have been a bit better if me going ‘cut that’s a WRAP’ was louder to anchor the situation more. But overall I’m pleased and happy with the pun at the end.

Now here’s when I refer the product to the brief (exicted?). It fits the main element of it. It is an adaption of a fairytale of myth - not exactly the first thing people associate with it - but who cares about that?  The time I think it’s slighlty over but I’m not sure how long it is as I’m stuck in a cold student house without any video. Anyway it’s not that far over and considering there is a ten second leeway on this project. It wouldn’t be an issue at all if we chose to edit digitally as it could be pruned simply with that kind of technology. The narrative may be prodominantly weird but the object is getting a shirt and it is resolved when they realise they havn’t got any. The atmosphere created by the costumes and music etc is one of a definate vein of madness and stupidity. But it all fits together to form a whole that, I suppose has some kind of feel to it. I havn’t really given this that much thought. Diologue is at a minumum, which is nice. Did you enjoy that?

Adam plays everyone. But this is partly intentional as I inputed a slightly hidden meaning into it, which no one will get so I might as well just tell you. The key characters in it are the fashion policeman, shopkeeper and the newsreader - if this was seen to be the same person then a conspiracy is very much in evidence. A man with a weird hairstyle telling everyone what to wear, which just happens to be what he has in his shop. I fully expect no one will get this (parly because Adam plays the three parts exelently) and I’m not really that bothered if they do or don’t actually.

Overall I’m pretty chuffed and pleased enough with it to show it to anyone who wants to watch. But I won’t be forcing it down people’s throats or selling bootleg copies door to door.

don't worry, it's over
