Kahlua Brownies

Brownies:

2 squares unsweetened chocolate

1/4 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1 cup flour

2 eggs, well beaten

1 tsp vanilla flavoring

1 Tbsp instant coffee crystals

2 Tbsp Kahlua

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp baking powder

Icing:

2 squares unsweetened chocolate in pieces

1-1/2 cups sugar

7 Tbsp milk

1/4 cup butter

1 Tbsp corn syrup

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla

chocolate chips (garnish)

Brownies:

1.  Melt chocolate and butter in top of double boiler.

2.  Remove from heat and mix thoroughly with all other ingredients.

3.  Pour into a buttered 8-inch square baking pan.

4.  Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.  Cool in pan.

Icing:

1.  Mix all ingredients in sauce pan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

2.  Boil 1 minute and remove from heat.   When cool, add vanilla.

3.  Spread icing over cooled brownie base and sprinkle with chocolate chips.
