Underground Railroad Webquest

INTRODUCTION:
This webquest will take you back to the mid 1800's, where you will learn about the experiences of slaves and the Underground Railroad.  Please remember that although there are many links provided below, you may also use other internet resources and books.  Jump on the learning train!

TASK:
For this project, you will research slavery and the Underground Railroad.  You will work in pairs or groups.  You will be expected to write a brief report and present your findings to the class. 

During this project, you will research the following information:
   1.  What was a slave's life like?
   2.  What was the Underground Railroad?  Be sure to include its purpose, who used it, where it went, and the risks involved.   
   3.  Choose one important person involved with the Underground Railroad. Tell who the person was and what he/she did.

* Please be sure to make your presentation interesting and interactive by including pictures, maps, songs, poems...

PROCESS:

2.  Create questions for each topic on your I-Chart.
3.  Use the following links and other resources to answer the questions.
4.  Use your I-Charts to write your report. 
5.  Organize your presentation.

Conclusion
After completion of this project, you should be able to describe the way slaves were treated, tell about the Underground Railroad in detail, and discuss one important person related to slavery.  I hope that you will acknowledge these events and learn from them.
