What to Read
SSR at FHS At Fairmont, we believe two things are fundamental to any person's education. Reading and writing are the keys to unlocking knowledge and human connections. We read for information as well as for entertainment; either way, we are learning new things and becoming better people. We write to make ourselves heard and to put our thoughts in order so they make sense, to others and to ourselves. I believe that reading and writing as part of the SSR program at Fairmont High is one of the main practices that sets us apart and makes us a model school--the best high school in Robeson County!

Book Hunting Hints #1 Ask around! Ask friends, family, people who watch the same movies and T.V. shows you watch--what have they read that they liked? Ask teachers, librarians, strangers what they have read or what they would recommend to you to read. #2 Go with what works! Can't find something you want to read? Try thinking of something you enjoyed reading before and finding more books by that author. Even "kids'" authors have written some grown-up books.
