How to beat the blues - * Put on some lively, pleasant music * Open up all curtains. Make your home as light as possible. * Open up doors and windows to let in fresh air (but don't get cold. Put on extra clothes or a heater. * Fill the kitchen with pleasant cooking smells. Even fresh toast smells nice. * Concentrate on your physiology. Don't hunch or sag. Sit up or stand tall. Even force a fake smile. It sounds silly, but your body will respond. Whistle, and act like you are happy. * One of the most powerful ways to beat the blues - Do something nice for someone else. This always feels good. Better still do several nice things for several people if you want to. * Set yourself a small achievable task to do. Once you finish you can enjoy the sense of achievement. * Have a go at a "Sherro's list". If you want to you can create your own. * Learn something new - It could be information, or a skill. Anything that gives you a sense of satisfaction or achievement. ............................................................................................................................................... * An extra bonus one for those of you who feel good when you are creating something new ... If you happen to like creating things, write a song, or draw a picture, or doing something artistic to put the feelings to a positive use. Harness the blues for a good purpose. The blues will pass, but the artistic creation can remain as a positive reminant. ("No good bluesman has ever been happy".) |
