| How to choreograph a dance routine... 1 - Select the music/ pick a song (Consider the theme, tempo/speed of the music and the style) 2 - Listen to the music and work out the form or structure. 3 - Re-listen and count the bars in each section. 4 - For each section work out actions that suit the story/theme & musical style. 5 - Consider variation from one section to another. eg Unison - groups - Individual Heights - Low, high, middle Movement around different areas of the stage/ dance space Smooth actions vs jerky/ rapid 6 - Practise each section 7 - Put it all together 8 - Work out costumes/ props/ backdrop 9 - Dress rehearsal 10 - Get feedback input from someone else 11 - Act on appropriate suggestions, and practse some more. 12 - Perform!!
