Hypocrisy Hypocrisy kills me. Pushing me down, beating me over the head. Dampens the mind and depresses the soul; diminishes me till I'm dead. Oh how I hate hypocrites one and all, knowing full well I'm one too! You quickly agree, but by god, you've got gall! Hypocrisy thrives within you. I hate hypocrites and the things that they say. Saying this, then doing that. It gives me the shits all the time with the way the hypocrites lied and bullshat. Saying one thing, but doing another. Rhetoric! Political chat! Welcome a sister, but shunning a brother! Where's the consistence of that? "Die for the cause", they espouse, knowing well come the crunch they're first ones out. They say it's the truth that they holler and yell, but it's lies that they scream and they shout. Why the pretence? Why the image? Why? Why? I'm guilty as you and as them. In vain I do try, but I sigh and I cry. It's all I can do but condemn. Hypocritical here, hypocritical there; it's all the time. Right here, right now. I try to keep clear. It's a hope that I dare. But it's hopeless: I know that, somehow. The obvious falsity of what is said, and what's implied, and what's done. How do they sleep with a conscience at night? Pathetic fools! Where is my gun? Hypocrisy kills me. Pushing me down, beating me over the head. Dampens the mind and depresses the soul; diminishes me till I'm dead. (C) TJ McGowan 22.6.94 |
