Overseas experiences

YHA (now IHA)Membership since 1988 ( Life-membership since circa 1993) staying at dozens of Hostels has allowed me numerous opportunities to meet people from a range of countries, to interact with them and to discuss international issues.


1980 - Two week travel in
New Zealand

Dec 1988- Jan 1989 - Travel -
USA, England, Scotland, France, Andorra, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Hong Kong.

1991 - 6 week Teaching practicuum in Yogyakarta,
Indonesia. (Java, Bali)

1994 - Sabbatical year working and travelling overseas -
Indonesia, England, Wales, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Russia, Scotland, USA).
6 week English Language Summer Camp - teaching English to
Italian students at Blackrock College, Ireland, 1994.
7 weeks Relief teaching at South Norwood Primary School, London,
England,1994.
International guest day visits to schools in Scotland, and Finland.

1997 - 5 months University study as an International exchange student, and active member of the Internation students club, at the University of Lethbridge,  in
Canada. Stop-overs in Japan.

1999 - Selected as one of 14 Australian teachers to attend the inaugural Fijian Visitors Bureau "Teacher familiarisation tour of Fiji" for one week in
Fiji. Included a visits to schools.
