Rued rural rune
The reason it's called rural, is kind of sad you see. It would have been called "rueful", had it been up to me. For life in rural regions is challenging at best. We rue the bloody fires. We rue the hornet's nest. We rue the roo 'coz really, we rue all hopping pests. We rue locust, and field mice. We rue climate tests. We rue the dusty drought years. We rue the flashing flood. We rue the wrenching heartaches; the tears, the sweat, the blood. We rue the saline issues, when salt pans claim the land. We rue the woody tree rot, or when footrot's out of hand. We're plainly pleasant people. We're rarely really rude. But we're sick of doing rueing, and everything that's rued. We love this rueful country. We're singularly plural when we rejoice in our proud choice to live a life that's rural.
