Media Center - We will visit the Media Center every week. Our kindergarten students will also be checking out books this year. Our class will check out and return books on Fridays. Medicine - If your child needs to take medication of any kind during the school day, a signed permission form needs to be obtained from the doctor. All medication is administered in the office. If your child has allergies or any other medical conditions, please let us know. Music – Our class will go to Music with Mrs. Campbell on Wednesdays.

Newsletter- We will send home a weekly newsletter to keep you informed of the happenings in our classroom and our school. This is a great way to stay abreast of our curriculum, classroom news, special activities and upcoming events.

Oops! - Please send a change of clothing for your child in a labeled, resealable plastic bag. We will keep this change of clothing in your child’s backpack in case of an accident. Remember to change these extras seasonally. Outside Time - The children will be going outside for 20-30 minutes of recess every day, weather permitting. Please keep this in mind when helping your child to select clothing and tennis shoes for the day.

Parties and Celebrations - We will have class parties from time to time for occasions such as Halloween, December holidays, and Valentine’s Day. PE - We will have PE with Mr. Mackey on Tuesdays. The children are asked to wear tennis shoes and appropriate clothing.

Quiet Time- In the beginning of the school year, the children will rest briefly each day. They are expected to sit quietly, but are not expected to sleep.

Report Cards - Report cards are issued three times a year. We will schedule a conference after the first marking period to share the first report card with you personally. These reports reflect the progress your child has made toward various kindergarten objectives and uses a grading system that reflects the developmental nature of kindergarten learning. Rules - We use a crayon system in the room to keep track of behavior issues. Please see the attached discipline letter.

Snack - Each morning we have a short time for snack. The cost is $2.00 per week.  We ask that the money be sent in cash or checks made out to the teacher because the cafeteria will not cash checks for us.
