MGCI Co-op & Technology Departments offer students
the opportunity to participate in a Combo Pack which allows students to develop important real-time skills & knowledge before entering a Co-op workplace position.

Learn today’s skills for job placements. The MGCI Technology Department has several packages developed by teachers with over 25 years’ experience in their areas of expertise. This is a real bonus for students serious about acquiring skills and knowledge for their Co-op placement.

The first steps for a successful Co-op placement is having a solid understanding of the workplace and having the proper skills. Co-op experiences are crucial when making those important career decisions.

Co-op & Technology teachers are available to discuss the different possible workplace positions that would best suit your personal abilities and career possibilities.


Check out the different Combo Packs offered by the Co-op & Technology Departments. All courses below, if successfully completed, lead to a Co-op placement which could be either an entry-level or trade-related position. Check with a Co-op or Tech teacher to find out the details relating to any of the courses below or to answer any question you may have.


Combo Pack #1
Art & Design • Advertising: (Grade 12)
Students will learn applied art which relates to Advertising Agencies and Design Studios. Graphic Design and Printing will be examined to give the students skills and knowledge on current software and equipment used in the industry today.


Combo Pack #2
Auto: (Grades 11 & 12)
The Transportation Technology curriculum provides students with the opportunity to gain insights and an enhanced understanding of prerequisite skills and knowledge to enter an entry-level position or trade. The auto industry has a wide range of skilled trades and posi-tions for both men and women.


Combo Pack #3
Computer-Aided Drafting: (Grades 11 & 12)
These courses use AutoCAD which is the leading drafting program in the industry today. The focus of study will be on becoming familiar with AutoCAD (2000 LT) through various exercises and problem-solving techniques. Artistic talent is not required.


Combo Pack #4
Food Preparation & Hospitality: (Grade 12)
Students will be examining the many different careers in in the foods industry. The focus will be hands-on experiences in preparing, buying and serving food. These two courses lead directly to a co-op, work placement position or apprenticeship.


Combo Pack #5
Graphic Arts • Publishing: (Grade 12)
This course will focus on hands-on experiences in design and pro-duction for the publishing industry. The development of an industrial portfolio for career opportunities in the Graphic Arts and Publishing industries will be stressed.

Networking: (Grades 11 & 12)
The Technology Department has different networking and computer servicing courses running. Please check with a Co-op or Tech teacher to get the most up-to-date information on these courses at MGCI.
