Jamie's 21st Birthday September 9th 2003 When Jamie returned to Heaven so unexpectedly that sunny July day, she was 50 days away from her 21st Birthday, a day she had looked forward to with much anticipation. As in years past, she had begun planning for it right after her 20th birthday. Although minute details would change from day to day, she knew she wanted to spend that day in the French Quarter and having her first legal drink. Oddly enough, she wanted to go on a ghost tour too. On her special day we went to Lakelawn, bringing her gifts of flowers and butterfly balloons. Then we gathered at the Moonwalk on the Mississippi River, where we released 21 purple balloons in front of St. Louis Cathedral. Our final birthday tribute was celebrated at Pat O'Brien's where we all had a "Hurricane" in her honor. Although we didn't "see" any ghosts, I know she was with us celebrating her life. |

Saphire is the birthstone for September. It represents serenity, truth and a noble soul. |
THRESHHOLDS Born on the threshhold of autumn's gold, you were sheltered and loved and you grew and bloomed in colors of sun, sky and starry nights. You ran and played and climbed and laughed through the years at the antics of people and other animals. You changed, but somehow stayed the same. Once in the midst of living and growing we looked around and realized with shock that you were already at another threshhold ~ between being a child and a young lady. You were so proud as you faced that door took a deep breath, gathered your courage the rushed headlong into that new world of moods, pajama parties and boys. You progressed and looked ahead to the point in time where you thought your freedom resided. "I can't wait until I'm twenty-one" you'd say, "I'll do..." "I'll go ..." "I'll have..." "I'll be..." That threshold never came for you. you were called too soon to cross another, that took you far beyond our reach into a place of which we've only dreamt. So here on your twenty-first birthday, the threshhold you were so impatiently awaiting, we gather to honor your memory in a joyous toast and celebrate the everlasting wonder of your life. ~ Harold Hopkins ~ |

and who can say when the day sleeps the moon still keeps on moving if the night keeps all your heart ? night keeps all your heart ... who can say if your love grows as your heart chose? only time... and who can say where the road goes, where the day flows only time... who knows? only time... |
You are listening to "Only Time" by Enya, one of Jamie's favorite "New Age" groups. |
who can say where the road goes where the day flows only time. and who can say if your love grows as your heart chose only time. who can say why your heart sighs when your love dies only time. who can say when the roads meet that love might be in your heart. |

Birthdays in Heaven Are there birthdays in heaven? Does the angel blow his horn? Announcing to everybody That this is the day you were born? Can the stars be your balloons? And angel food your cake? Presents wrapped in moonbeams All the angels helped to bake. Birthdays meant so much to you. They were always a big deal. Birthday presents, lots of friends And perhaps a special meal. So I'll whisper a little prayer today Asking everyone above To sing a Happy Birthday song And give you all our love... ~ unknown ~ |

This web page in honor of Jamie's 21st Birthday in heaven, was begun in July of 2005 and completed on September 22, 2005. It was supposed to be completed for her birthday on September the 9th, but nature intervened and our family was forced to evacuate on August 29th the day after we rode out Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. A wonderful group of friends, Heavens Children, learned I had been unable to complete this page in time and generously donated their time and talents to make a page for Jamie's Birthday. Please click on the picture at left to see this beautiful tribute for Jamie. |
