Getting to the Core of Greek Mythology

Objective 1: Students will identify and explore the lifestyles of ancient Greeks.

Objective 2: Students will extend their vocabulary of cultural, social, and political terms.

Objective 3: Students will evaluate the various roles of women, men, or children in different city-states.

Objective 4: Students will write a review demonstrating their understanding of the knowledge 

                   acquired in objective #2  (Lesson 4).

Assignment: Review the following websites for information on the daily lives of ancient Greeks.  After perusing the sites, decide which city-state will be your focus, and which part of the population- women, men, or children.  Follow the steps below to collect information that will be useful in your composition. Anticipate how you will narrow your topic, but collect enough information to allow yourself some options.  

     

Step 1:  Complete the accompanying worksheet.  
Step: 2:  Review the following website to experience Ancient Greece as a Spartan or an Athenian.  Trace and outline one character's journey.  Be able to distinguish fact from fiction.  After you read and outline each act, record what you learned about the person you selected and his or her city-state.
