Introduction
Myths, fables, fairy tales, folktales, tall tales, epic poems, and folksongs belong to the folklore genre.  What distinguishes myths from the other literary works in this category is that they are of anonymous origins.  Instead of being credited to an individual author, myths are the offspring of primitive cultures around the world.  Among the first yarns ever told, myths are stories that explain people's relationship with the gods and how things are created.   Although the stories are filled with superhuman acts and deeds, they often depict man's inability to alter his fate.
