HackMaster News

December 22, 2005

For the sake of people trying to find my old HackMaster stuff, I have decided to reopen the site. But don't get your hopes up- I don't plan on updating it with anything new. It is kinda nice to see the old girl back online again though. It was definitely ahead of its time with this very blog-like format. It would certainly have been easier to run with the blogging packages that are around today. It's neat to see how much better the web has gotten in just a few years.

You can find my new site with online tools for many different games at www.hackslash.net.

I am sad to say that this will be the last update to the site for the forseeable future. Why, you might ask. Reason one is that my wonderful baby girl is taking up all of my free time and energy at the moment. Reason two is that I have lost a lot of the enthusiam that I once had for HackMaster. A lot of that has to do with the fact most of the speculation and mystery surrounding the game dissapated as soon as the GMG came out. A lot of it has to do with the fact that I find HackMaster too complicated for my tastes. And of course, a lot of it has to do with the fact that I'm too busy to play anything right now so its hard to stay excited about something that you don't actually get to use.

Anyhow, now that the HackMaster Journal is a reality, I would encourage everyone to submit their creations for publication there. The official HMPA site should be up soon as well. I would like to thank everyone who has submitted stuff for me to put up here as that is the reason that the site is of any real use.

Speaking of submitting stuff, I leave you with the yet another of Douglas Curtis's creations- the Tree Witch! Enjoy, and hack some stuff for me.

Happy New Year!

Here are the results for the latest poll question: What are you doing with HackMaster?

Playing it as is. 56%
Playing it with some changes. 22%
Reading it just for the humor. 11%
Stealing ideas out of it for use with 3rd edition D&D. 9%
Stealing ideas out of it for use with 2nd edition AD&D. 4%

Wow, almost 80% of you are actually using the HackMaster rules for playing your game. That sounds like a high conversion rate to me.

Kenzer & Co. has finally brought all of the HackMaster message boards together under one roof. The new address is here- http://pub18.ezboard.com/bhmpa
