Holy Cross School
Capitalization: the first word in a sentence, all proper nouns, titles of respect, family titles, initials of names, place names, proper adjectives, months of the year, days of the week, important words in organizations, names of holidays, first word in the closing or greeting of a letter, the word I, important words in a title, the first word in a direct quotation.
Types of sentences: declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory.
Titles: underline the titles of books, newspapers, TV series, movies, and magazine.  Use quatation marks around articles in magazines, short stories, chapters in books, songs and poems.

One of America's most innovative educators, Washinton was born a slave.  After the Civil War, he entered Hampton Institute.  In 1881, he founded the Tuskegee Institute.  Washington's discoveries helped African Americans  gain the self-respect and economic independence needed to survive after slavery.
