For my last Farewell tour concert of 2000, I was flown out to Dayton, OH, by my then-boyfriend Andrew. His brother was able to get him to meet Paul and Gene during the Psycho Circus tour so he was trying to get me to meet Paul Stanley - ack! Unfortunately, we wouldn't know if I was going to be able to behold the beauty that is Paul Stanley personally until the day of the concert, and as it turned out, I wasn't able to. After all, it was the last concert ever for KISS in Dayton!
Disappointed but not depressed, we went to the concert. We saw the last 4th of Skid Row's set and since we both hate Ted Nugent, we went outside for a bit. Amongst the smoke, we chilled outside until Ted's set was over. When it was, we returned inside the building and stood in the hallways for a while, deciding whether or not to look for Tommy Thayer. We just wanted to say thanks for bringing KISS to Dayton one last time. We decided not to and started to go back to our seats. Just as we turned around in the direction of our seats, we literally bumped into Tommy Thayer!
"Hello, Mr. Thayer!!" "Hi. Hey!!! I remember you! Andrew, right? Hey, where are your seats? Here...have these!"
And he then proceeded to upgrade our seats to one section from the floor and one section from the stage!!! EEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
The concert was so awesome. PAUL-fucking-STANLEY made eye contact, waved, and blew me a kiss/licked his lips! I almost died! And Andy said that he caught gene looking at me a couple of times. He said he thought, "Uhhh...why is Gene staring at me? Oh...he's not staring at me. Why would he, anyways? I've got the most beautiful girl in the world by my side..." Such a sweetie, isn't he? I didn't notice Gene looking at me; I was concentrating mainly on Paul. When I wasn't gaping at Paul, I tried to get Gene's attention and failed every time. Oh well. I told Andy that Gene wasn't looking at me because I was "the most beautiful girl in the world." I was wearing a very low-cut shirt with no bra and jumping and dancing all over the place and we all know how Gene is! Even if you show him the ugliest pair of tits, he's all over them! Horny old man!
They played so well! It was the best show I've seen, including not only the shows of the Farewell tour but the Psycho Circus and Reunion tours as well. The energy was so amazing! Gene was very lively and Paul was prancing, jumping, strutting, and wiggling way more than usual. I didn't know Dayton was such a special place to them! Ace was only fairly animated. I found myself sitting down when time came for his solo, though. One can only hear the same solo so many times in one tour before it gets boring, you know? But he did joke about the magical force that blew up the light he aimed for even though he missed it...tee hee.
After the show had ended, "God Gave Rock and Roll to You II" came on, as expected, and I slowly started sobbing, as expected. I collected myself and then began to rummage through the confetti. It all came to an end so suddenly, and even though this was my third concert this tour, I still cried. From now on, this planet will always be "a world without heroes." |
