Well even with a poor showing by our club we were able to round up enough members to help MSU catering out this summer and recieved $200 for our efforts!!!! This is great news for us as we may have more opportunities like this in the fall. To all of you enjoying your summers I wish you luck and look foward to hearing from you in the fall. Thank you to all of you who responded to this opportunity. Would anyone still in Bozeman be interested in floating the Madison or going up to Harrison or Ennis Lake later in July?

Thank you to those of you who attended the meeting last night, it was quite productive!!!!!! We were planning on having a BBQ this Thursday but in light of the recent weather we have opted for a pumpkin carving social instead. There will be snacks and about 10 pumpkins provided, please all of you feel free to attend and don’t hesitate to bring your own pumpkin if you so desire. Also Medellee is bringing pictures of historical figures, we may have a contest who can carve the best image of a historical figure in a pumpkin. It starts at 7 p.m., there is an attachment above! Also the initiation has been scheduled for November 7th at 6 p.m. at the Habit restaurant on campus in the quads. More details are to come. Also the silent auction will be held on December 8th at 7:30 p.m. in the same location. Phi Alpha Theta is helping to sponser Jack VanDerGeest next Thursday October 28 in the Leon Johnson Lecture hall at 7 p.m. I hope you all can attend. That is it for now, with more to follow, I’m sure. Thanks everyone, I’ll talk to you soon….(Thursday, that is!)

We held a fantastic meeting last week, for all of you that missed it the following was discussed:

- We’re thinking of a November 19th deadline for the scholarship which means our committee needs to get on top of things and draw up formal requirements.

- Also I have four people lined up including myself for a fundraising opportunity this Thursday, October 14, at the SUB at 6:30 p.m., we need two more people and it will only take two hours, please respond and help if you can, this is a great opportunity for the club to make at least $100 for very little work, two people respond and help us please!

- Community Service ideas were discussed involving the Pioneer Museum, the Animal Shelter and the food bank; these are currently being researched as we need to get out in the community and be involved.

- The silent auction will be held the week before finals with the day to be determined.

- An initiation at the Habit restraint is currently being scheduled for Sunday, November 7th in the afternoon. If you want to join the club you must come prove your commitment before this date.

- A BBQ is to be held on Thursday, October 21st hosted by PhiAlphaTheta at 6:00 p.m., location TBA, I hope you all can make it. As soon as the location is known there will be flyers located in the History department’s PhiAlphaTheta box, please spread the word!

Also a discussion of the differences between PhiAlphaTheta and a History Club were discussed: PhiAlphaTheta is a National organization with membership dues, and qualifications. For those of you that do not desire to take part in this we will be holding PhiAlphaTheta meetings at the hour mentioned in these emails with a History Club to meet afterwards. The History Club will consist of discussing all sorts of aspects of history. All are welcome to attend both meetings! Dave was able to book VanDerGees which you should all have an email about, flyers will be coming out shortly and we should all attend, encouraging our peers as well, it will prove to be a great story! Thank you all and I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
