When one takes a stock of the work that has been carried out by this Institution during the last half a century, one is naturally struck and impressed by the multiplicity of its activities and the constancy of its purpose and application. Here there is much to satisfy those, who are a part and parcel of this Institution, much too even for a wayfarer and much more for those who enjoy appreciating and indulging in good, dedicated, noble and intelligent academic work.

The Department of Russian under the Faculty of Arts is one of the only Centres of Higher Education in the Western Region of India, imparting training in Russian Philology: language, literature translation and interpretation at UNDER GRADUATE, POST-GRADUATE and DOCTORAL levels. Over five decades of its existence  the Department of Russian Language has been known for its active role in the field and today it is recognized for some of its courses, offered in lieu of those equivalent in seven leading CIS Universities of higher education in different branches of knowledge.
