Way back in late 2004, I was marketed one of those vacation trip packages. I originally purchased it so Penny and I could hit Vegas. But, work and such got in the way and Vegas never materialized. Instead, we decided to trip to Breckenridge for the kids first skiing experience.
We drove out to Colorado and visited my brother Greg and his amily and then continued up to Breckenridge. An artic cold blast was hitting the midwest and we encountered single digits in Denver and -1 degree while going up through the mountains. Fortunately, our skiing days at Breckenridge were in the mid-teens.
The kids went to ski-school for a couple days and Penny 1 day which meant Dad had 2 days all to himself to ski all over Peaks 8 and 9 of Breckenridge. It was a blast and Dad even did the highest lift in N.America, the Imperial Express which tops out at 12,840 ft. The 'double black diamond' to get down is accurate as it's pretty steep. Here are pics from the trip. |
