Of course, you can get your equipment from anywhere. However, it makes sense before you buy locally to check out REI or Campmor and see if they carry a similar product of either better quality or lower price. In addition, REI has an "Expert Advice" section on their website that can give you insight into buying the right equipment to suit your needs.
Note: I have also found that for some items (boots, tent, etc) that it can be very beneficial to go to a store and really check out the equipment. One of the reasons that I like the REI Denver store is that I personally have found their personnel to be very knowledgeable on the products they sell. |
