Mount Nelson, Tasmania
Bligh was the first white man to walk on Mount Nelson.  Therefore, he was the one who named the hill it's name now.

In 1880 the first telephone line was put in place and it went from the Signal Station to Hobart.  The Signal Station was important to boaters and other communication outlets as it was the way of communication, either by hand signals, flags or other ways.

Mount Nelson has lots of activities like the play equipment at the park, cricket or football oval, fire station and more.  The Signal Station is the main attraction, with spectacular views and lots to offer.

On the Signal Station are picnic tables and a shop where they sell souvenirs, snacks, lunches and morning and afternoon teas.  You can get to the Signal Station by following Nelson Road, by either coming up The Bends, Proctors Road or the Southern Outlet.  It is easily accesible.  Public transport also runs to and from Mount Nelson and the City via Sandy Bay.  Buses leave every 30min and there are several stops on the way up and back.
