From Weird Old Woman Down the
Road and Other Minor Observations
thick blue-gray-rose sky makings of purple edge
eastern horizon changes moment by moment as does life t.v.
chatters endlessly not real news media speculation weird old
woman scowls in contempt at blatant deceptive propaganda
diversionary nothingness gut wadding for the public
mind same old same old two feisty little dogs curl together
in large chair at peace with the world and each other at least
for the moment she mentally scans the room projects in
progress seed bead pin held in place be large beading
needle silver bead and malachite swag laid out manuscripts and
research piled high on small table to right with bible study to
left her conscious mind aches as eyes pass over half-read "Winds
of War" this room where her waking hours are spent overpowering
with its fetishes dream catchers plants sunflower and crow rocks
crystals and books line every wall where to begin where to
end always the question blazing sun casts stupendous array of
color along western horizon to greet the stars that
obediently position themselves across the universe
