This is me, Arielle. I am 42 years old and live out in the middle of a large farm in Missouri. On June 28, 2002, I married my love, Ed Candland. I finally found a man who makes my heart joyful. A man who puts up with my ups and downs and is always there for me.
My Family: I live on a farm that was originally settled by my great great great grandfather. It has a wonderful family history. Right now I live next to my parents, my son and my grandmother. I recently lost my grandfather. I miss him terribly. He was a great and wonderful man. Some people think I am nuts to want to live so close to all my family, but I wouldn't live anywhere else. I am what my family calls a throwback cause I like doing things the old fashioned way. I have churned butter, canned vegetables, fruit and meat, done my laundry in a washtub with a scrub board and made my own lye soap. I love to garden when I have time but right now I am working on landscaping my yard. (Turning a cow pasture into a lawn is NOT an easy thing to do!)
My Family: I can't say enough about my son. He's wonderful. The best I could have ever hoped for. He's my pride and my joy. I also want to mention my big brother Mark. Sometimes I get jealous of him because he has always been so successful in life. But I have always been proud to call him my brother. He is always there for me when I need him most. He has a beautiful wife, Diane and two great kids (my nieces, Emily and Katherine (Kat). I have several cats: Nermal, Shadow, and Bobby and 4 dogs, Morgan the Mysterious, Goldie the Irrepressable Retriever, Sally the Psycho Dog, Hank the Hunting Dog and of course Brook the Princess. Of course what self-respecting witch wouldn't have a couple of cats eh? And what self-respecting hillbilly would be without a bunch of dogs to lay on her porch?
My Nickname: I got the nickname Mountain Witch from my "city" friends, who after hearing how I go out and gather herbs and things asked if I was some sort of witch, I told them nope, just a throwback. It didn't matter, by then the nickname stuck. Oh well, I have been called a lot worse in my time! I enjoy hunting herbs, picking flowers,working in the garden and going hunting with my son when I can. When time allows, I go to visit my sis and bro, Belle and Firewalker. They have been great to me and I wouldn't know what in the world I would do without them. I also work with my best friend Izus. She and I have known each other for 18 years now and she's my best pal. We go to the Realm together, play dominos and discuss life's challenges. We are each other's sounding boards. Well enough of my rambling, take care and God Bless! |
