#1 Question:
Hi Doug,
We met during one of the ski clinics for the ESSC Junior XC Ski Program  Maybe you remember me: I am the German Woman who works in the Barlett School Library.I am interested in (instructional skate ski videos; can you recommend any?  Do you know where I could rent some?  Or, if necessary, buy them?  I would appreciate your help!
Thanks, Andrea
PS:  I really enjoy your column in the Sun/Cool News!
Hi Andrea,
Sure, I have one that you can borrow.  I have quite a few requests for it and I also use it when coaching the Jackson Junior Nordic Team on Wednesdays, so I would like it returned within 3 days.  Call me at 356-6837 or email to confirm a date and location for pick-up.
Also, if you are a memeber of the MWNordic Club (get a membership form at http://www.oocities.org/mtwashingtonnordic/), then there are a number of videos at the JSTF Lodge that you can sign out for free.  A couple of these videos would be excellent for the kids at school.
I'm pleased to hear you enjoy my column.  I hope I didn't make any enemies last week from the walkers and dog owners!

#2  Doug,
I'm not a racer.  What % of members are racers?  Tell me abut Member Benefit titled "Informal Tours."  Was this a suggested item at the club meeting in Dec?
Regards, Rich D'Aquanni
Hi Rich,
Yes, the "Informal tours" was a suggestion at the Dec meeting which we have followed up on. We have had two events so far.  The first was at GGT--a Pot Luck, Social & Night Ski all at once.  The second was a day tour on the Rob Brook Trail on the south side of Bear Notch Road, followed by dinner at Montebello's.
The next events have not been decided yet, but we are hoping the club will show up in force to help run the Wellinghurst Series Races which benefits the local youth interested in xc skiing.
As far as % of racers...I'd say about 15% race quite a few times each year, 15% maybe 2-3 times, another 15% have raced but probably won't this year.  As one becomes more active as a skier and as one attends more functions, it's not unusual for that person to try a race.
MWNordic is not just about racing!
At the meeting, a suggestion was made for interested tour directors to announce to the officers about an event and we would spread the word.  Did you have any particular trip in mind? Date?
