Scoring: A handicap system used for the overall series results will be updated each week.  This age-adjusted scoring system equalizes young and old into separate men's and women's classes.  At some races there may be two sets of results...one for the Series and a traditional set not using handicaps.  The Series placings will be determined by total points accumulated over the six weekends.  The first 20 age-adjusted times will be awarded points as follows:
  1st - 30 pts., 2nd - 25 pts., 3rd - 21 pts.,  4th - 18 pts., 5th - 16 pts., 6th - 15 pts., down through 20th - 1 pt.
.
Wellinghurst NordicTeam Trophy: Each year this award will be presented to the school with the highest participation score in the Wellinghurst Nordic Series.  Each time a skier completes a race, his/her shcool receives one point.  Any elementary or junior/middle school student is eligible.  Bartlett School was awarded the trophy in 2000!
J2 Boys:  Sorry folks, if you wish to score Series points, you must race many of the events as a J1.
Past Wellinghurst Series Champions: Jennifer Caldwell, Howie Bean, Seth Burnell, Sarrane Taylor, Ron Newbury, Salley Swenson, and Ken Kimball.
Prizes: CHUCK ROAST MOUNTAINWEAR and SWIX will provide prizes to the overall top five age adjusted skiers for men and the overall top five age-adjusted skiers for women at the final race at Bretton Woods on March 18th.

The Jimmy Wellinghust Nordic Series was created in memory of the first Nordic Skier from the Mount Washington Valley to reach international competition when he represented the USA at the Junior World Championships in 1981.  Since then, many skier from the Valley have surpassed, but he lead the way for them.  In recognition of what Jimmy has done for the sport, these seven local Nordic Centers, The Eastern Slope Ski Club, and the MWNordic Club have joined together in support of the Jimmy Wellinghurst Nordic Fund, created "to enhance the sport of cross country skiing for local youth."
