If you've enjoyed the site, and wish to submit something of your own, here are the requirements:
- The focus of this site is on Maritime Entertainment and Renaissance Faire Entertainment. To this end, I'll gleefully post articles on maritime history, any aspect of Renaissance Faire performance, sea shanties, or pretty much anything to do with any of the above. However, as I'm the final arbiter of what does or does not go up on this site, if you have an idea that you're unsure of - please ask!
- Unless you are the author, please do not submit copyright protected materials. This applies to songs, articles, whatever. I don't want to tread on anyone's legal rights here.
- While pictures ARE present in the Seadog Specific sections, they are not the main focus of this site. Please consult me before sending pics in for posting - I'm drawing perilously near the memory allotment that Geocities gives for free.
- The main focus for the Guildbook is to provide a reference for those interested in Maritime Entertainment and all facets thereof, specifically from the perspective of the Seadogs. Again, I'm the final arbiter on postings, and will happily post items up from other groups as well. Just stick with the basic theme, please.
- I reserve the right to edit text submissions. I will do my utmost to stick to spelling and syntax clarifications. I will normally attempt to contact the author if something more must be changed.
As stated above, this website was started primarily as a resource for the performers of the Seadogs of St. Dymphna, as well as anyone with an interest in entertainment of a nautical persuasion. With this in mind, content for submission is encouraged over a WIDE range of topics. Suggested topics (by no means an exhaustive list) are:
Improvisational tips, styles and examples
Seadog Minutiae (lore, history of the guild, etc.)
Performance Hints (storytelling, songset etiquette, etc)
Nautical History
Character building tips
Advice to new (and aspiring) Seadogs
Nautical Reference Material
Craft Instructions (Knot work, etc)
Costuming Options and Guides
Accent Guidelines (Arrrrr!)
Anything else concerning the Seadogs
Anything else concerning any other aspects you'd like to see
Note that
this book is intended as a showcase for ALL individuals willing to contribute.
If someone has done something on a topic you were considering, please feel free to contribute your own piece
on it. There's room in the Seadogs for many
varied styles, and there's room on this site for them too.
