Once again, with mountains in the vicinity we were not lucky with the weather. Our driver told us about mountains, glaciers, etc. We saw low clouds. The base of the mountains was very pretty. with lots of rock dust from the glaciers passage. |

The weather was beautiful for our cruise through the fiords near Milford Sound. The sheer rock faces were quite spectacular. The scenery in this portion of New Zealand was sculpted by the glaciers. |

We had a day in Queenstown. We tried to find a stables that would allow a horse trek with a 4 year old but we had no luck. Instead we went on a river rafting trip through rapids rated 1 and 2. The ride to the drop in spot was more wild than the raft trip, but it was a very enjoyable way to spend the afternoon. We had a nice commentary on the gold mining efforts of the area. There were also quite a few metal structures remaining on the river from the mining days. |
