TRINITY CENTER INTERNSHIPS

I met with Dr. Bittman from the Mind Body Wellness Center in Meadville on July 30, 2008. We discussed the possibility of 2 music internships per semester with Edinboro Students at the Trinity Center in Erie (http://www.bethesda-home.org/programs/trinity.htm). These internships will last for 8 weeks each semester and will require approximately 10 hours per week. Bethesda Children's Home and Yamaha Corporation are working together to make this program possible. The participants of this program are primarily inner city youth from the Little Italy neighborhood in Erie.

Dr. Bittman will provide each intern with $500 per semester and will pay their travel expenses. We expect this to be an ongoing program.

I have modified the requirements for MUED 217 and MUED 419 to include three hours at the Trinity Center so that all of our music education students will have the opportunity to observe and pitch in with this program. I am hopeful that Edinboro students will become as enthusiastic about this program as I am and that they will wish to spend additional time at the Trinity Center.

The two students who are fortunate enough to be selected each semester will be able to list a truly worthwhile experience on their resume. I will assist Dr. Bittman in the selection process. Please send me a message to let me know if you are interested in applying for one of these internships.
