Boys Golf Team
2006 Yearbook Article The boy’s varsity golf team completed another successful season in 2005. The varsity returned six lettermen in hopes of challenging for the conference championship and a trip to the state tournament. The varsity led by senior captains Ben Voelkel and Kyle Krueger finished the 2005 season placing in the top ten in all seven tournaments they competed in. Mukwonago finished 8th in the prestigious 36-school Ashenfelter Tournament held in Janesville. Seniors Ben Voelkel and Kyle Krueger with junior Geoff Spaight and sophomore Pete Rombca finished first and second in the Bradford Bestball Tournament. The varsity finished 2nd at the conference championship just behind Arrowhead. Sophomore Pete Rombca became the first sophomore to win the “Classic 8 Conference” player of the year honors. Rombca finished first out of 40 golfers. Pete Rombca was first team all conference. The varsity advanced through the regional tournament placing 3rd. In the sectional championship Mukwonago tied for 3rd. Sophomore Pete Rombca tied for 3rd place individually and lost the playoff to advance to the state tournament. The JV boys golf team finished the season with a 15-6 record and finished in 2nd place overall in the conference standings. Freshman Andy Voelkel led the freshman golf team to a 10-2 conference record and finished 2nd in conference overall behind Arrowhead. Pete Rombca was the overall “MVP”, Kyle Krueger won the “coaches award”. Senior Ben Voelkel was the “Players MVP”, Freshman Mike Spaight was the “Most improved Player”, junior Brad Schlosser was the “JV Award” winner, and freshman Andy Voelkel won the freshman “MVP Award”. Geoff Spaight won the “Most Dedicated Award”. Captains for 2006 season are Mike Mack, Geoff Spaight and Pete Rombca. |
