Cyberspace allows people with diverse interests to come together to share their interests. There are many ways for people to get together online, and many ways for them to share their interests. There can be scholarly discussions, or more informal role playing. It can bring together people with interests that are not very common. If a person lives in a community where no one else shares their interest, they can find a community online where people do share their interest. The type of community that is created by this shared interest allows people to study their interest, and to meet like-minded people. The communities created by groups of people with common interests are different, however, than the communities created by common location. But the internet is uniquely situated to allow these types of communities to grow.
