The winter of 2002 was just like any other winter in Terryville, CT. Not much ever changed in the small town populated by 12,000. However, in Terryville High School, 6 students inadvertently began a standard for all others to follow. In November, the current music director of THS arranged for a live band to come play for the school with proceeds to benefit the music program. Brandon, who was highly active in the program, came up an idea for getting the event more exposure so that more students would attend: making commercials. Now, with the announcements broadcast over the school's televisions, making a commercial and putting it on in the morning when everyone is sitting in homeroom seemed like the perfect plan. Looking towards his best friends, Brandon set out to get himself a crew to aid him with the creation of the promos. Recruiting Al, Chris (Scott), Cass, Dan, Billy, and Chris, the group adopted a name that now echoes through the halls of their old high school and can be faintly heard throughout the country... Mur Hurnt (thanks Al). At the same time as production of the commercials was being commenced, Mr. Rafaniello, along with other THS faculty members Mr. Trudeau and Mrs. Tracy were in the process of starting a TV station that would go out to all 12,000 citizens of Terryville. After seeing our work, Mur Hurnt was quickly among the first recruited for the Plymouth 16 crew. Specializing in live broadcasts of sport events and production of features for Terryville's first real TV show, Plymouth Rocks, the Mur Hurnt crew began to receive the training and passion to take on their most ambitious project of it's time... the Class of 2003 Senior Video. While other schools create montages of their senior year and pass it off as a class video, the Mur Hurnt crew made their video (codenamed Project X) the largest production Terryville ever saw. With footage dating back to pre-school, the crew created a well thought out and entertaining tribute to the students and faculty who left that school only to cast a shadow over ever class to come after them. The video now lives as a cult classic to the entire town. Other projects have begun to form, and now with the addition of John, the crew is unstoppable. These groups of best friends is now spread over 6 different campuses, but still do their best to make their ideas come to life, and then unleash them upon the world. Werd. |
