So what are the symptoms of endo???

Usually people's first clue is getting the symptoms which are commonly found in someone with endo.  Everyone’s symptoms differ slightly to each other. No one will have the exact same problems or combination of symptoms but there are a few which are very common.

There are many symptoms.  Not all women with endo suffer from the symptoms and the symptoms some women do suffer from do not indicate how widely spread or how much endo they have. So someone with a lot of pain doesn't necessarily have a lot of endo and someone with little pain could have loads of the stuff and find out they have it when being investigated for something else!

These are some of the symptoms:

Pain before, during and/or after a period
Pain during ovulation or other times of the month
Painful bowel movements and other bowel problems such as;
Constipation (unable to go to the loo)
Diarrhoea (going to the loo to much)
           Alternating between the two above
           Bleeding from the bowel
Pain before, during or after having a wee
Irregular periods (however remember when you first start periods can be irregular for up to 2 years before settling into a pattern)
Heavy periods
Clots (look like a sticky clump of blood)
Dark or old blood and/or spotting
Bad PMS
Feeling tired and having little energy
Another symptom can be painful sex.  Remember if you are under 16 it is illegal to have sex, however if you have done it and are worried or need advise - talk to someone.  Try and find a trusted adult to talk to.  Your school nurse, a friend of the family, an older sibling or understanding parent.  It can be awkward to talk about personal issues but it is important to do so if you need to.  And remember to always have safe sex and don't do it if you don't feel ready.

Another symptom
can be infertility.  While I know as a teenager it's really too young to be thinking about that kind of thing, if you haven’t been diagnosed with endo but suspect you have it by recognising the symptoms above make sure you talk to your doctor about them as endo can get progressively worse.  The longer you leave it to be diagnosed and treated the more likely it is that you will have more complications such as infertility caused by endo.  But don't panic, it does not always cause infertility and there are a lot of ways to help women get pregnant so it isn't a completely closed door.
