It seems that the more important a decision is, the harder it is to make. It's equally hard to stick to it. I know, I've had to make several very important and very hard decisions during the course of my life.. Decisions are presented to you in many ways, and you're initially influenced by this presentation. Are you presented with one during an argument, in a letter or in a grocery store? Does your body need something that comes in a variety of choices? You see what I mean. Emotion is the next influencing factor. How do you feel about the decision. Decisions that are forced on you by others usually generate feelings of anger, bitterness, reluctance, even sorrow. Decisions through impersonal sources can generate some of these same emotions as well, but it's more likely we'll sneer at things like which credit card company to choose and so forth. Who the decision involves is also a deciding factor. Whether it affects only you or others along with you, is very important. How the decision affects others causes secondary emotions like fear and worry. How important the decision is also rates high. Is the decision based on a life or death situation? Does it involve personal injury of someone else? Or is it a simple matter or choosing what to eat, what to wear, that sort of thing? Whatever is decided ultimately affects you and those you know - even if the effects aren't readily visible. All, even the smallest and most mundane, require some amount of thought. They will all stay with you, even the split second ones. |
