We are the children of many sires, and every drop
of blood in us in its turn betrays its ancestor.
---Ralph Waldo Emerson
As our family tree grows, it's boughs become forever entwined with branches of many other families thereby adding another dimension to our descendants' rich heritage. These unique and special "trees" include families from Belgium, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Scotland. Some of our childrens' spouses and children can claim lineage to the early settlers of the United States and some can trace their surname to Ireland's early rulers. Others can be justifiably proud of their relationship to a well-known World War II hero, who so valiantly gave his life for our country.Whether an ancestor was a titled noble or a hard working European peasant, whether his name is known or unknown, all are equally worthy of our moral and philosophical respect. Time and events in history have shaped our families' values, customs, language, hopes and dreams; therefore they have shaped us. To learn more about our ancestors and their place in history is to learn more about ourselves.
Following are a few links to people, places, family organizations, genealogical research pages, etc., that will help us explore these fascinating and forever entwined family trees.
