The MAJESTIC was built by Blohm & Voss in Hamburg.
She was launched in June 1914 for the Hamburg-Amerika Line and named the
Bismark.
The dimensions were 956ft x 100 ft x 58 ft.; tonnage: 56,599, speed: 23.5
knots. There was accomodation for 700 first class, 545 second class, and
850 third class passengers. After World War 1 the ship was transferred
to the British Shipping Controller and was later sold to a consortium which
consisted of the Cunard and White Star Line. It was renamed the Majestic.
In 1937 the ship was sold to the British Admirality as a boys training
ship and renamed Caldonia. In 1939 it sank in Scotland after
having caught fire. It was sold to Wards in 1940 and scrapped sometime
after 1943.
