Is anyone else nauseated by the way the media has handled this election? Within the past month the papers have reported uncertainty within the Republican Party and actors, actresses, and movie directors (oh my!) talking smack about a topic they have no real insight or information on. It’s all a desperate cry for attention. Better yet, I am thrilled that John Kerry knows how to water ski (or hang on for his life) and throw a football, because we all know those are the top qualities I look for when I decide who gets my vote for president. I see it as another example of the government spending our tax dollars to go on some company outing when they could be doing so much more with it rather than spend it on themselves and their rich buddies. I do not know a single thing about the men, with the exception for what news networks shove in my face, but at least now I know if Kerry and Edwards ever got into a disagreement they could throw footballs at each other’s head and the media would no doubt eat it up.
It does not matter who is voted as the American President in November. We will still be in Iraq; jobs will continue to be exported to who-knows-where; we will never know the truth about 9-11; and better yet, the United States will continue to go bankrupt because of those “what were they thinking” policies leading up to the European Union to buy out the US (give it 50 years). Politics is all the same no matter what side you are from. It is really all about the art of persuasion. If you are good at fooling enough people in believing that you have all the answers and are the equivalent to the Messiah, then more power to you; I’m still not voting for you. |

It is definitely a sad day when all that makes the front pages of the newspapers and headlines the news channels is what two men did more than thirty years ago. Forget about the fact once “curable” diseases are coming back to haunt us, children are becoming unhealthier by the minute, and that we’re paying some $1.50 for bottled water and still complaining about paying $2.00 for a gallon of gas, all that seems to matter now are the decisions that George W. Bush and John Kerry (or their daddies) made back in the Vietnam-era.
Who determines that these trivial, little things are important? I seriously could care less about whether they fought, how they fought, and what boo-boo they received from who knows what. Also, where is the real role of these Swift Boat people in politics? Granted, they once faced danger like every other young man who served in Vietnam and had their brush with Agent Orange (who didn’t?). Today many veterans are connected to their respective parties, but why should Americans be swayed by what is aired on television, whether it is supported by Kerry or Bush? Seeing how they pretty much cancel each other out, I think they should just drop the whole Swift Boat thing, stop pointing fingers and move on. I do not know anyone in their right mind who can keep track of this ridiculous mess anyway. |
